Tyler Perry has donated 5,000 meals to Atlanta families during a Thanksgiving giveaway event at his movie studio.
According to People, Perry personally funded the event with a combination of food boxes and Kroger supermarket gift cards, with many cars beginning to line-up for the drive-through event 12 hours before the giveaway started. “Tyler was heartbroken seeing people all over the country stand in line for food so he decided he wanted to give back to his community in Atlanta,” a source close to the 51-year-old Madea star told People. “Hopefully this encourages others who are able to, to give back during the holiday season in a year that has been difficult for many.”
Due to Covid, the event was conducted as a drive-through and families were required to stay in their cars at all times. Face masks were also required.
According to Variety, this is just one of the many ways Perry has given back this year. Back in April he gave $21,000 in tips to workers at one of his favorites restaurants and paid for the groceries for seniors in Atlanta.
