Oprah took to social media to share the devastation California is facing following the mudslides which hit parts of Southern California this week.
Oprah shot footage of the damage caused to her Santa Barbara neighborhood, telling fans, “Thanks everyone for your prayers and concern. My property is fine. Some mud, and minor damage that pales in comparison to what my neighbors are going thru.”
The mudslides have left 17 people unaccounted for and at least 17 people dead after they swept through Santa Barbara County leaving a path of destruction in their wake.

Hillsides lush with vegetation had once protected residents from potentially dangerous mudslides caused by heavy rain. However the Thomas Fire, which burned over 281,000 acres last month, stripped the land of that vegetation leaving neighborhoods vulnerable to the rains that hit Southern California this week.
