Jared Leto will step into the shoes of recently deceased
Playboy founder Hugh Hefner in an upcoming biopic about the cigar-jacket clad businessman.
According to the
Hollywood Reporter, the film is in the early development stages and will be directed by Brett Ratner, in conjunction with his RatPac Entertainment.
“Jared is an old friend,” Brett revealed. “When I heard I got the rights to Hef’s story, he told me, ‘I want to play him. I want to understand him.’ And I really believe Jared can do it. He’s one of the great actors of today.”
Ratner also told
Hollywood Reporter he plans to re-boot the Hefner-hosted, late 1960’s talk show
Playboy After Dark.
