It’s goodbye to The Chew and hello to a third hour of ABC’s Good Morning America the network has announced.
The Chew, which is in its seventh season, was placed in a negative light late last year after chef and host, Mario Batali, was accused of sexual harassment at his New York restaurants and fired from the show.
According to Us Weekly, staffers at The Chew were completely blindsided by the news this would be their last season, with a source revealing, “They were under the impression that the show was still strong and would continue.”
The Chew will air through September, with new episodes airing in June. Hosts Michael Symon, Clinton Kelly and Carla Hall all took to social media to share their reactions to the shocking news, with Kelly tweeting, “Yes, The Chew was cancelled. Huge bummer, but that’s the TV biz…We’re gonna finish out the rest of the season with as much enthusiasm as we can muster!” “It has been an amazing run,” Michael Symon shared on Facebook, “and we are all looking forward to fun new things!” An upbeat Carla Hall shared a positive message on Twitter, writing, “I am so grateful for all the good times and incredible friends I have made over the past seven years on The Chew. It has truly been an amazing ride. I am looking forward to new adventures! What’s next? Stay tuned! Onward and upward!”
