Real Housewives of New Jersey star Melissa Gorga and
Bravo’s Andy Cohen are being sued for $30 million by Gorga’s former business partner, Jackie Beard Robinson.
RHONJ viewers will recall Robinson was featured on the show after she and Melissa opened a clothing boutique called “Envy by Melissa Gorga.” When their business partnership turned sour, it was featured on the reality show.
Robinson filed the lawsuit against Gorga, Cohen and NBC for “defamation and intentional infliction of emotional distress” after she was portrayed as stealing items from the clothing boutique in the middle of the night. Cohen and Gorga discussed the incident during an October episode of
Watch What Happens Live where Cohen asked Gorga, “Wow, so that lady ended up ripping you off?” and Gorga answered, “Yes.”
Robinson claims that is false and she entered the store during daylight hours to remove her belongings after alleging Gorga “misappropriated over $37,000 from Envy without authorization” according to the lawsuit. She also argues the comments make her look like a “felon” which hurts her business as “an entrepreneur and international fashion influencer.”
A
Bravo spokesperson told
Page Six, “there is no merit to this lawsuit.”
