Kim Kardashian’s known for her hourglass figure and is no stranger to using a waist trainer after giving birth to help her famous body get back in shape.
Starting September 30th fans of Kim Kardashian can get their hands on their very own waist trainer thanks to her new shapewear line.
The busy mom of four has added the $68 waist trainer to her SKIMS shapewear line, which promises to “instantly erase inches” from your waist, while “nipping you in to perfectly accentuate your body’s natural curves.”
Kim took to Instagram to share the product launch, revealing, “a waist trainer is a gift that I used to give all of my friends right after they had a baby.”
“Okay guys, so SKIMS is launching our very own waist trainer,” Kardashian West said on the video. “And a waist trainer is a gift that I used to give to all of my friends right after they had a baby.”View this post on InstagramA post shared by Kim Kardashian West (@kimkardashian) on
“To me, they just make me feel really snatched, and I really don’t know any — I know snatched isn’t really the most descriptive word — but I would always wear a waist trainer when I just feel like I needed to get it together, when I really want to train my waist.”
However, according to several media outlets including Insider and Women’s Health, doctors warn waist trainers may not be that healthy.
According to Insider, doctors reveal waist trainers can cause everything from shortness of breath, nausea, bruising and even the risk of fractured ribs.
“Medically, it doesn’t make sense that cinching your waist tightly will make it permanently smaller,” Mary Jane Minkin, MD, clinical professor of ob-gyn at Yale School of Medicine, previously told Women’s Health. “Once you take the garment off, your body will return to its usual shape. It’s also uncomfortable, restricts your movements, and if you wear it really tight, it can even make it difficult to breathe and theoretically could cause rib damage.”
Instead doctors recommend the old-fashioned, tried-and-true method of shedding pounds from your waist: diet, exercise and a healthy sleep schedule.
