Jennifer Lopez has announced she will donate $1 million to help in relief efforts for hurricane-devastated Puerto Rico.

J-Lo, who is of Puerto Rican parentage, has said she will contribute proceeds from her Las Vegas residency after hurricanes Irma and Maria led to widespread devastation on the island.

The singer, actress and dancer posted a video to her Instagram account revealing she has been unable to make contact with some of her relatives on the island.
Hurricane Maria was the strongest storm to hit the island in eighty years, with winds of 155 mph and driving rains that have led to widespread flooding, power outages and a death toll of 10, which is expected to rise. It is anticipated Puerto Ricans could be without electricity for months.
