It’s been a whirlwind romance for singer, Mariah Carey, and her Australian billionaire fiancé, James Packer. After Packer popped the question back in January with a huge 35-carat engagement ring, it looked like wedding bells were on the horizon for the 46-year-old mother of two.

But after announcing she would be canceling most of the Latin American leg of her “Sweet Sweet Fantasy” tour, citing “promoter negligence,” it has now been revealed the engagement with Packer is off.
According to a report in
Woman’s Day, Packer allegedly ended the romance due to Mariah’s extravagant spending and disagreements over the filming of her new reality show,
Mariah’s World. However, a source close to Mariah revealed to
Us Weekly, “James has not been present for her so she unfortunately couldn’t make it work and had to leave him.” Packer’s reps state the claim is “simply untrue.”
Speaking to
Entertainment Tonight a rep for Carey hinted at the possibility of a reunion in the future saying, “Mariah and James had a fight in Greece, and have not seen each other since. The fight was not because of any cheating allegations or excessive spending by Mariah…they are trying to work it out. Right now, they are not sure if they will stay together. They are discussing it and plan to release an official statement together about their future.”

Mariah is the mother of twins – Monroe and Moroccan – whom she shares with ex-husband, Nick Cannon.
