If you are looking to blast away belly fat, celebrity trainer Jillian Michaels has these tips to help slim down your core.
Jillian shares on her Jillian Michaels app that crunches alone won’t get you the six-pack you’re looking for. In order to achieve that toned look you must first burn the fat away from the abdominal muscles.
Jillian revealed you should incorporate exercises that are core focused but target different muscles groups in your body – like push-ups and planks to help burn calories. She also suggests high intensity interval training such as doing jump squats for 30 seconds, followed by a plank pose for 30 seconds.
Secondly Jillian suggests managing stress and estrogen levels, which can contribute to fat being stored in the midsection.
“The more testosterone dominant you are, the more you’ll store belly fat,” Michaels told Business Insider. “The more estrogen dominant you are, the more you’ll store fat in your lower body.”
To help manage stress and hormone levels Jillian recommends keeping stress levels in check, getting a good night’s sleep and eating foods high in healthy estrogen such as yams, fermented soy and flax.
