As the conflict in Armenia continues to escalate, Kim Kardashian has donated one million dollars to the Armenia Fund – an organization that directly helps those impacted by providing food, shelter, and medical care.
The Keeping Up With the Kardashians star opened up about her donation by sharing a video with her nearly 200 million Instagram followers.
“I’m so honored to be part of today’s global effort to support the @armeniafund. I’ve been speaking out about the current situation in Armenia and Artsakh and having conversations with so many others to bring further awareness to the crisis that we cannot allow to advance,” Kim captioned her video message.View this post on InstagramA post shared by Kim Kardashian West (@kimkardashian) on
“My thoughts and prayers are with the brave men, women and children. I want everyone to remember that despite the distance that separates us, we are not limited by borders and we are one global Armenian nation together,” Kim shared.
“The @armeniafund is directly helping those that have been impacted during this critical time with humanitarian aid through food, shelter, and medical care. I will be donating $1M to assist their efforts on the ground and invite you to join me,” the busy mom of four, who is of Armenian descent, told fans. “Whether you are helping with just raising awareness and posting on social media or donating just $1, every bit helps. Let’s make this our most successful fundraiser ever. Thank you so much.”
According to the Associated Press, the fighting between Armenia and Azerbaijan started in late September and has thus far left hundreds dead as the two countries escalate a decades-old conflict over Nagorno-Karabakh – a region in Azerbaijan that has been under the control of ethnic Armenian forces backed by Armenia for more than a quarter century.
The Independent reports the new fighting, which began on September 27, is the biggest escalation in the conflict since 1994.
