Jeni’s Splendid Ice Creams on Thursday launched its new Punk Stargonaut Collection of flavors to celebrate the upcoming total solar eclipse on April 8.
The limited-edition Punk Stargonaut Collection released Thursday includes four flavors from a distant galaxy and a new Space Dust topping that adds another dimension to all of its flavors.
Nebula Berry is described as tart like a blueberry and vibrant like a raspberry with a beautiful elderflower finish. Cosmic Bloom is a tropical flavor that tastes citrusy like a mandarin, refreshing like a kiwi, and punchy like passion fruit. Purple Star Born is the brand’s first grape ice cream, flavored with Concord grapes and tart blackcurrants. Supermoon, meanwhile, is the revival of a customer favorite that tastes like candied violet and marshmallows, reminiscent of marshmallow cereal milk.
The Space Dust topping is a fizzy popping candy, and it will be available in scoop shops as a topping or in a take-home bag, as well as online.
Fans who order the Punk Stargonaut Collection online by April 3 will also receive four pairs of ISO-certified eclipse glasses that offer eye protection when viewing the eclipse.
Beginning on April 5, scoop shop customers can receive one free pair of Jeni’s brand eclipse glasses free with purchase.
On the day of the eclipse, Monday, April 8, Jeni’s is celebrating with free Space Dust all day.
The eclipse on April 8 will cross Mexico, the U.S. and Canada. The path of totality will cross more than a dozen U.S. states, and all of the Lower 48 will be able to see at least a partial eclipse. The next such total eclipse to be visible in the contiguous U.S. won’t occur until Aug. 23, 2044.
