Actress Evangeline Lilly has received backlash after posting a “business as usual” update revealing she just dropped her kids off at gymnastics camp.
Despite the advice from health professionals and other organizations to stay home and practice social distancing, Lilly told her 2.3 million followers, “Just dropped my kids off at gymnastics camp. They all washed their hands before going in. They are playing and laughing.”
The 40-year-old ended her post with the hashtag “#businessasusual.”
Given the current concerns surrounding the coronavirus pandemic, many found Lilly’s post startling and were quick to call out the actress for her “selfish” commentary.
According to Variety, in the comments Lilly also revealed she is currently living with her father, who has stage 4 leukemia.
In another response to a comment, Variety reports Lilly believes the government is taking too much control, writing, “Where we are right now feels a lot too close to Marshall Law for my comfort already, all in the name of a respiratory flu.”
“It’s unnerving…Let’s be vigilant right now,” the Ant Man & the Wasp actress wrote. “And kind. Watchful and gracious––keeping a close eye on our leaders, making sure they don’t abuse this moment to steal away more freedoms and grab more power.”
