At 54 years-young, Elizabeth Hurley’s svelte figure and super toned abs defy her age, yet when it comes to achieving them The Royals actress revealed she doesn’t work out.
Instead of employing a personal trainer to help keep her famous figure in shape, Hurley instead credits pottering around in the garden for keeping her in tip-top condition.
“I don’t work out, per se, but I’m incredibly active,” Hurley told Extra. “I do a lot of exercise, but it’s really the gardening. Cutting down a hedge, using my chainsaw to cut down a tree, logging, all that sort of stuff I do. So, I’ve very active.”
The breast cancer awareness advocate may be on to something. According to WebMD, gardening can be a great workout, not only physically, but also mentally.
“Gardening provides all three types of exercise: endurance, flexibility, and strength,” reports WebMD.
“Gardening can have such a positive impact on your health. Just being outside in nature is great for mental clarity,” shares celebrity garden designer P. Allen Smith. “Gardening helps keep blood pressure down and is good for the heart. It’s also a great stress reliever.”
