Britney Spears has been forced to take out a restraining order against her former manager, Sam Lufti, who must now stay at least 200 yards away from the singer and not contact or disparage any of Britney’s family members.
According to TMZ, Spears’ legal team sought a restraining order against Lufti after he reportedly posted “disparaging and threatening comments on social media” and sent multiple texts to Britney’s mother Lynne Spears reportedly offering her $1,000 to “disrupt and take over” the conservatorship arrangement Britney’s father has with his daughter.
TMZ and numerous other media outlets are reporting Lufti is behind the #FreeBritney movement on social media, which claims the pop star is being held against her will. The movement began after Spears announced she would be postponing her Las Vegas residency to focus on her family as her father recovers from a life-threatening ruptured colon.
According to The Guardian, a previous restraining order was taken out against Lufti in 2008 when Lynne Spears accused him of drugging Britney and controlling her phone use. Another order was taken out in 2009 when Spears’ legal team accused Lufti of trying to control Britney’s financial assets.
