Grammy-winning singer Tori Kelly will be heading to Churchill Downs to sing the National Anthem at this year’s Kentucky Derby.
Speaking exclusively to
USA Today, Kelly gushed, “I’m stoked because I’ve always wanted to go to the Kentucky Derby!”
“It’s such an iconic event and historic event. It’s all really exciting,” Kelly said of the event, which was first held in 1875.
In true Kentucky Derby fashion, Kelly told
USA Today she will be donning a custom-designed hat for the event and plans on sampling her very first Mint Julep cocktail on the day.
The 147th Kentucky Derby is scheduled for Saturday, May 1, and will be broadcast on NBC.
