Don’t be guilty of making some of these common makeup mistakes.
Eyebrows
Pay attention to your brows. Believe it or not, they can make or break your look. Avoid over-tweezing and avoid over-lining your brows.
Primer
If using a primer isn’t part of your makeup routine, add it. Applying a primer after moisturizing the skin and prior to applying makeup can make a huge difference in the way your makeup looks. Using primer can help create that smooth, polished look and will increase the longevity of you makeup.
Sleeping in Your Makeup
A huge No No! Sleeping in your makeup can be one of the worst things you can do for your skin. Make your nightly facial routine a priority to avoid clogged pores and breakouts.
Foundation Shade
Make sure to properly match your foundation to your skin tone. So many make the mistake of going a shade or two darker rather than utilizing bronzer and blush. Get the correct foundation shade and highlight your face with bronzers and blushes for the best effect.
Too Much Bronzer
A common makeup mistake involves the overuse of bronzer. Do not apply bronzer on the entire face, only apply on certain areas that will accent and highlight your face in the way bronzer is intended to do. Only apply to cheekbones, nose and forehead.
Waterproof Mascara
Only wear waterproof mascara when you need to. Don’t use it for everyday wear. Since waterproof mascara is harder to remove, you can end up depleting your lashes when you remove your eye makeup each day.
Lash Curling
Use an eyelash curler prior to applying mascara, not after. If you are using a curler immediately after applying mascara, your lashes can still be wet and tacky and you could be ripping out you natural lashes. Ouch!
Wash Your Brushes
If you use a makeup brush daily for application of foundation, make sure you are washing them in mild soap on a regular basis. If you aren’t getting a fresh, clean application and find yourself breaking out more than usual, you may have found the culprit! Also, replace sponges often.
Lip Liner
Using lip liner is a great way to create the look of full and defined lips, but be careful when choosing the right shade. You want to make sure your liner blends with the your lipstick color. If you’re going to a 90’s-themed costume party go for the dark liner, otherwise it’s never okay!
Too Much Makeup
Less is More! Don’t overdue when it comes to makeup application. Choose a balance when it comes to accenting your features. If you’re doing a bold lip, don’t go crazy on the eye makeup. If you’re doing a smoldering smokey eye, choose a neutral gloss for the lips.
