McDonald’s on Monday unveiled the Burgercuda, the Hamburglar’s never-before-seen getaway car, as he drives across the country in search of the fast-food chain’s new and improved classic burgers.
Last year, McDonald’s began rolling out newly updated versions of their Big Mac and McDouble sandwiches as well as their classic Cheeseburger, Double Cheeseburger and Hamburger, and they’re now available in all restaurants nationwide.
Now, the Hamburglar is driving coast to coast in his custom 1970 Plymouth Barracuda getaway car to make the ultimate burger-stealing heist, and fans who spot the Burgercuda can win free food and swag.
Fans who spot the car can scan the vehicle’s code to be rewarded with an Arch Card along with Hamburglar-inspired swag. Fans who don’t spot the Burgercuda can still enter to sin free McDonald’s burgers for a year at SpotHamburglar.com.
McDonald’s built a legacy on serving delicious burgers, but anytime we have an opportunity to make the best even better, we take it, Tariq Hassan, Chief Marketing and Customer Experience Officer at McDonald’s, said in a statement. It’s no surprise these changes caught the attention of our biggest burger fan – the Hamburglar. We’re excited for fans to join in on the fun as they look for him on his burger-stealing spree. You never know where he’ll pop up next.
The updated burgers feature new, softer buns, and a juicier flavor from adding white onions to the patties while they’re still on the grill.
The Burgercuda will be easy to spot with its custom black-and-white stripes on the exterior and interior, along with red detailing and the Hamburglar logo on the headrests. The Hamburglar’s getaway car also features bun-like hubcaps, a spare tire disguised as a cheeseburger, and his signature catchphrase — RBL RBL — on the hood scoop and license plate.
