Receiving ‘Best Actress’ nomination for her role as an awful opera singer in the film, Florence Foster Jenkins, Meryl has now received a record-breaking 20 Academy Award nominations over the life of her career.
Despite being called ‘overrated’ by President Trump, Meryl leads the pack in Oscar nominations, with Jack Nicholson and Katherine Hepburn falling behind her with 12 nominations each.
Earlier this month Streep won the Cecil B. DeMille Award at the Golden Globes.
Other nominees for Best Actress include Emma Stone (“La La Land”), Isabelle Huppert (“Elle”), Natalie Portman (“Jackie”) and Ruth Negga (“Loving”).
