Costco members can now access prescription GLP-1 drugs including Ozempic through a specialized weight loss program offered in partnership with healthcare marketplace Sesame.
The warehouse club and Sesame launched their partnership in September 2023, and on Tuesday announced the expansion of their services to include health care for weight loss with pricing exclusively for Costco members.
For $179, members will receive three months of weight loss consultation with the clinician of their choice, including the ability to message their clinician outside of scheduled appointments. The clinicians will help patients with diet, exercise and lifestyle modifications, and when clinically appropriate, the treatment program will include medications.
“We are witnessing important innovations in medically-supervised weight loss,” David Goldhill, Sesames co-founder and CEO, said in a statement. “Sesames unique model allows us not only to make high-quality specialty care like weight loss much more accessible and affordable, but also to empower clinicians to create care plans that are specific to — and appropriate for — each individual patient.”
Sesame and Costco have already teamed up to offer healthcare services including virtual primary care starting at $29 for Costco members, health checkups including lab work for $72, and virtual mental health therapy for $79.
Sesame aims to help uninsured Americans and those with high-deductible plans access more affordable healthcare. It has a network of primary care doctors and nurse practitioners in more than 40 health specialties, along with labs and imaging centers, and includes both virtual and in-person care.
The New York-based company does not take insurance, in order to keep prices down for those who need to pay cash due to a lack of insurance or high deductibles.
Costco members can access the new weight loss service at CostcoWeightLoss.com.
