Planning on stocking up with a trip to your local Costco store next week? If so, prepare to wear a face mask.
The big box retailer announced starting Monday May 4 all Costco customers and employees must wear a mask, or other face covering in order to prevent the spread of COVID-19.
“To protect our members and employees, effective May 4, all Costco members and guests must wear a mask or face covering that covers the mouth and nose at all times while at Costco,” the company said in a statement on their website. “This requirement does not apply to children under the age of 2 or to individuals who are unable to wear a mask or face covering due to a medical condition.”
“The use of a mask or face covering should not be seen as a substitute for social distancing,” Costco stated. “Please continue to observe rules regarding appropriate distancing while on Costco premises. Thank you for your understanding and cooperation.”
The company also updated its shopping hours for guests over the age of 60. Certain Costco locations will be open from 9 a.m. through 10 a.m. Monday – Friday for guests over 60, and people with disabilities.
