Ariana Grande took social media by storm over the weekend when she unveiled her new hair color.
No, the 24-year-old songstress has not gone prematurely grey. Ariana turned her long brunette locks into a gorgeous shade of silver in an extremely dramatic dye-job – and she looks stunning.
Grande, who just wrapped up her Dangerous Woman tour overseas, shared a selfie on Instagram, pairing the new hair color with a nude lip and wispy eyelashes. She captioned the shot, “btw i (it’s grey)”
Her new look garnered much praise from fans, calling her new silvery locks everything from gorgeous, to pretty, and some fans even comparing Ariana to a fairytale princess.
So what steps should you follow if you want to switch up your hair color to grey? First of all, you really don’t want to try it at home. Going grey involves stripping your hair of its natural pigment and that means damage, especially if your hair is dark to begin with. To minimize damage, visit a hair salon for a professional job and be prepared for the whole transformation to take a couple of visits, unless you have really light hair to begin with. Once the hair is stripped, a toner will be applied to counteract any yellow left in the hair. After having the hair professionally stripped and toned, a hair stylist will then apply the grey hair color.
The new grey hair trend is beautiful, but it is going to require upkeep along with a good shampoo and conditioner. To minimize upkeep consider doing a grey balayage, instead of an all over grey color so dark roots will blend in with new hair growth.
