This year marks the 43rd edition of the calendar and was photographed by accomplished photographer Annie Leibovitz. “For 2016, we did something completely different, but it is still simple. It is a classic set of black-and-white portraits made in the studio,” claimed Leibovitz in a press release.
In previous years, the calendar portrayed nudity, but this year, Pirelli is taking a different approach. Although the 34-year-old Inside Amy Schumer creator and tennis champion are both featured topless in their black and white photos, the rest of the accomplished woman are fully clothed.
Leibovitz spoke of Schumer, stating, “I’m a great admirer of comediennes. The Amy Schumer portrait added some fun. It’s as if she didn’t get the memo saying that she could keep her clothes on.”
Schumer posted the candid and un-retouched photograph to social media, stating, “Beautiful, gross, strong, thin, fat, pretty, ugly, sexy, disgusting, flawless, woman. Thank you @annieleibovitz.” Source: Pirelli/Annie Leibovitz
Other talented females included in the spread were 82-year-old musician Yoko Ono, 68-year-old rock star Patti Smith and 33-year-old top model Natalia Vodianova.
