Aaron Carter took to Twitter shortly following his Saturday night arrest in Georgia. The 29-year-old performer was arrested on charges of DUI refusal, possession of drug paraphernalia and possession of less than one ounce of marijuana.
Following his arrest, big brother Nick Carter tweeted his support for Aaron following the arrest – a tweet it seems didn’t sit well with Aaron.
Backstreet Boys singer Nick had tweeted, “To my brother: I love u no matter what & if u feel the need to reach for help, I am here and willing to help you get better.”To my brother: I love u no matter what & if u feel the need to reach for help, I am here and willing to help you get better.

Nick followed it up by tweeting, “Family isn’t always easy, be we’re all here for you.”Family isn't always easy,be we're all here for you.

Aaron issued a statement through his rep in response to his brother’s tweet of support saying, “If my own blood truly cared about my well-being, why wouldn’t he call me directly and have a conversation instead of making this about him through a very public forum? That’s not cool at all to use me for his PR and kick me when I’m down.”
Aaron then took to Twitter to defend himself in a series of tweets:
Aaron revealed he has a prescription for medical marijuana to help with his “long standing anxiety” – he also stated he was “not in a moving vehicle when arrested and charged with a DUI.”Thank you ALL for your prayers & well wishes. I am so sorry to all my fans that I missed. The truth will come out! Read my statement here: pic.twitter.com/XaiKqUeXxh

He then urged his Twitter followers to “Walk away from gossip and verbal defamation. Speak only the good you know of other people and encourage others to do the same.”Walk away from gossip and verbal defamation.
