If the sheer mass of people hitting the roads and the airports at Thanksgiving leaves you feeling overwhelmed and stressed out, you may want to stay home this year.
According to
Travel+Leisure, a reported 2.5 million more people than last year are expected to travel over the Thanksgiving holiday, which equates to a whopping 54 million travelers – the highest number since 2005.
Travel+Leisure are reporting AAA reveal most of those travelers will be driving with 48.5 million hitting the road. Peak travel times will be the Tuesday and Wednesday of Thanksgiving week for those departing, with Sunday being the most popular day to head back home.
To try and avoid the busiest travel times, AAA recommend you leave early Thanksgiving Day morning and head home on the Friday, or Saturday.
