Missing heading to your favorite movie theater thanks to the coronavirus pandemic? Walmart is here to soothe your woes by revealing they plan to turn store parking lots into drive-in movie theaters – and best of all, the experience will be free! Walmart announced they are partnering up with the Tribeca Film Festival to offer drive-in movie theater experiences across the country.
The company revealed they plan to turn 160 Walmart parking lots into outdoor theaters from August 14 through October 21.
Movies will include family favorites such as Ghostbusters, Black Panther, The Wizard of Oz and more. “We recognize the challenges our customers and their families have faced over the last few months, and we wanted to create an experience where they could come together safely to create new memories,” Janey Whiteside, Walmart’s chief customer officer, said in a news release Wednesday. “The Walmart Drive-in is one small way we’re supporting the communities we serve.”
Walmart revealed Drew Barrymore will serve as a virtual host for all events and will make a surprise appearance at one location.
