Looking for something new to read while quarantined at home? Oprah Winfrey has you covered with the newest pick for her book club!
Winfrey announced on Tuesday she was picking Robert Kolker’s “Hidden Valley Road” for her fourth book club recommendation since partnering with Apple last Fall.
There’s no better time to read than when you’re safer at home! My next @oprahsbookclub selection is “Hidden Valley Road: Inside the Mind of an American Family” by @bobkolker. It’s a riveting true story of an American family that reads like a medical detective journey. pic.twitter.com/9njuWRzngE

Released this week, “Hidden Valley Road” gives an in-depth account of a 1950’s family with twelve children, six of whom have schizophrenia.
In announcing her choice, Winfrey called Kolker’s latest book “a riveting true story of an American family that reads like a medical detective journey. It reveals the shame, denial, shock, confusion and misunderstanding of mental illness at a time when no one was really sure what schizophrenia was or how to treat it.”
Winfrey also promised to engage new readers during the coronavirus pandemic by continuing to pick books to help us all pass the time while we practice social distancing.
