In a revealing video posted to her new YouTube account, Hailey Baldwin is sharing the reason why she decided to step away from Twitter, calling the social media platform a “very toxic environment.”
The 24-year-old model revealed she no longer uses the app, saying in the video, “I don’t even have a Twitter anymore because there was never really a time where I would go on there and it didn’t feel like it was a toxic environment.”
“The thought of even opening the app gives me such bad anxiety that I feel like I’m gonna throw up,” Baldwin shared.
Baldwin revealed she first noticed the overwhelming negative effects of social media and public scrutiny following her 2018 marriage to Justin Bieber, saying in her YouTube video, “I think one of the biggest things I struggled with for sure was the comparison aspect of body comparison and looks comparison and behavior comparison.”
“I want everyone to like me, it’s like my downfall at times and I’m working through it,” Baldwin candidly shared. “I think one thing I’ve had to come to the conclusion of is trying not to feel like I owe everybody an explanation or owe anybody anything, and really just try to correct what I need to correct personally behind closed doors.”
For now, Baldwin is working on having a healthier relationship with social media, revealing she is making it a rule to only check Instagram on the weekends.
“Life is better this way,” Baldwin told fans.
