Dr. Oz Reveals Top Foods for Longevity

When it comes to living a healthy life we know there are certain foods we should be consuming, and other less healthy fares we should avoid.
But when it comes to longevity, Dr. Oz has named five different food that can add years to our lives. Speaking on the TODAY show, Dr. Oz revealed he looked at global cuisine incorporating super ingredients to come up with his list.
“Everywhere you go has unique and amazing foods that are not only delicious but can help you live a long, healthy life,” Dr. Oz shared on TODAY.
Dr. Oz’s Five Healthy Ingredients are:
Chapilunes
While the thought of eating Chapilunes – the Mexican word for grasshoppers and crickets – may not sound that appetizing, Dr. Oz revealed they are a great source of protein and are better for the environment than typical sources of meat protein.
Quinoa
Dr. Oz calls this one of the healthiest whole grains that contains all nine essential acids, making it a near-perfect protein.
Hazelnuts
Packed with antioxidants, Dr. Oz shared with TODAY the healthiest way to eat hazelnuts is to consume whole roasted nuts.
Lentils
Your grandmother may have been onto something when she made lentil soup, with Dr. Oz revealing the humble lentil is a great source of iron, making it especially beneficial for teens and pregnant women. Best of all, lentils are an inexpensive source of plant protein.
Snow Pea Leaves
Dr. Oz told TODAY snow pea leaves taste like a cross between baby spinach and peas and are packed with phytonutrients that promote healthy gut bacteria.
