Compiling a wardrobe can be tough. With so many choices out there it is easy to feel bewildered with what, or what not to wear every day. But according to top fashion designer Misha Nonoo, there are three ‘must-have’ essentials every woman should have in her wardrobe.
Nonoo stopped by NBC’s TODAY show to discuss compiling the perfect wardrobe, revealing, “Creating the foundation of a woman’s wardrobe, it’s thinking about what is going to ease her pain points in the morning. How she dresses from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m.”
Nonoo suggests 3 basic items women should have in their closets: a white shirt, a black blazer, and a pair of black pants. These items provide the foundation for a good capsule wardrobe.
“A white shirt is absolutely crucial for every woman’s wardrobe,” said Nonoo of owning a classic white shirt. “I believe there truly is nothing more universal than a simple white collared button-down shirt.”
Meghan Markle, the Duchess of Sussex, is renowned for sporting a crisp white shirt. She’s also a fan of pairing a tailored black blazer with jeans for a casual look or popping one over a dress.
“Every woman needs at least one mid-weight black blazer in her wardrobe to wear year-round,” Nonoo told TODAY. “You can wear this to a business lunch or straight from the office to girl’s night”
As for black pants, they’re an item every woman needs in her closet, with Nonoo telling TODAY, “A black trouser is something that would typically be thought of as office wear, but it can easily be a staple in your wardrobe for the day-to-day,” said Nonoo. “Pairing the pant with something like a sweater and a pair of sneakers make this a fabulous look for when you’re truly going to be on-the-go and comfort is of great importance.”
