Their images were used to promote the disastrous Fyre Festival and now Kendall Jenner, Bella Hadid, Hailey Bieber and other top models are likely to be subpoenaed to testify about payments they received for marketing the failed event.
According to The Blast, the trustee overseeing the bankruptcy of the Fyre Festival was granted an order to serve subpoenas to IMG Models, DNA Model Management, Kendall Jenner’s company, and other companies paid by festival organizer Billy McFarland.
According to court documents obtained by The Blast, the trustee in the case is looking to account for $5,289,810.14. The documents state Jenner was paid $275,000 for her role as Model/Actress; Social Media Celebrity Influencer, and IMG Models, representing Hadid and Bieber, were paid $1,214,976.46.
The much-hyped Fyre Festival, which featured promotional footage of top models frolicking in the tropical waters of the Bahamas, was billed as a luxury festival with VIP tickets costing thousands of dollars. When festival-goers arrived they found the exclusive accommodation and gourmet meals they had been promised replaced by white tents and prepackaged sandwiches before ultimately finding out the event had been postponed indefinitely.
McFarland was sentenced to six years in prison last October after pleading guilty to two counts of wire fraud and ordered to pay $26 million in restitution for his role in the failed music festival.
