Chris Rock will make his return to the Oscar stage, serving as host of the 88th Academy Awards, confirmed on Wednesday by the show’s producers David Hill and Reginald Hudlin.
The comedian hosted the award show in 2005, and the show’s producers hope that his hosting gig this year will increase ratings. According to Variety, last year’s show pulled in the lowest ratings in six years with Neil Patrick Harris serving as host. This year, Hill and Hudlin hope to give the show a fresh look.
