It seems there has been one Achy Breaky Heart issue that’s been plaguing Billy Ray Cyrus his entire professional life – his name.
In a recent article with Rolling Stone magazine, the country star revealed when he started his music career he wanted to be known as a different name.
Now the time has come to fulfill that dream and by the end of August Billy Ray will be known simply as Cyrus.

In the Rolling Stone interview Billy said, “I always went by Cyrus, and I begged Mercury Records to call my Cyrus in the beginning because that’s what I was comfortable with.”
Billy said after August 25th he will officially be known by his new one-name moniker – “I’m going to the hospital where I was born in Bellefonte, Kentucky, and legally changing my name,” the country star revealed. Cyrus is also re-releasing a new version of his hit Achy Breaky Heart in celebration of the song’s 25th anniversary!
