She’s well known for pushing the envelope of what some of us think to be slightly bizarre – think back to the time she wore a necklace containing a vial of blood from then husband Billy Bob Thornton – and this time Angelina Jolie is seen chowing down on some pretty scary looking food.
In an interview with the BBC Angelina opens up about her much publicised divorce from Brad Pitt, what it’s like raising her six children and of course her humanitarian efforts.
Since the interview took place in Cambodia, Angelina decided to share some of the local cuisine with the BBC, which included a big, fat, fried tarantula! Crickets, scorpions and other arachnids were also on the menu. Jolie admitted in the interview that it’s an acquired taste, but one she has become accustomed to.
Angelina is in Cambodia for the screening of her film, First They Killed My Father, a true story of the Khmer Rouge genocide, in which two million people died. The film is told through the eyes of a child.
Cambodia is close to the heart of the Jolie who adopted eldest son Maddox from the country. She was granted Cambodian citizenship from Cambodia’s King Norodom Sihamoni in 2005 for work she carried out in the country through an environmental foundation she established.
Reflecting on her recent separation from Brad Pitt, Jolie revealed to the BBC, “It was very difficult…My whole family have all been through a difficult time. My focus is my children, our children.”
